Business Aviation in Crimea - Green Light

On August 20, a meeting was held in Novorossiysk dedicated to the development of transport infrastructure in Southern Russia. During this meeting, President Vladimir Putin signed several directives, including those concerning the Republic of Crimea. Specifically, by March 1 of next year, the government, in coordination with the authorities of Crimea, must present a series of proposals regarding the creation of conditions for the reception and servicing of private aircraft at the peninsula's airports, including those owned by foreign citizens.
Without this, Crimea will struggle to attract major international investors, which will negatively impact the region's economic condition. According to statistical data, internal traffic to the peninsula has significantly increased over the past six months, accounting for nearly 50% of business aviation in the country; however, the infrastructure to support it is completely lacking.
According to the Governor of Sevastopol, Sergey Menyailo, such an initiative is a necessary step in developing intensive interregional and international business communication. Currently, a military airfield in Belbek is used for corporate aviation needs, but this arrangement is temporary. Denis Maziirka, head of the Russian company "TopAvia," also expressed his solidarity with the governor. He believes the idea is very promising and beneficial, and he hopes that regional leaders will make every effort for its practical implementation. Additionally, he noted that it is essential to change the relationships with foreign airlines, operators, and owners of private aircraft.
As for foreign companies, they generally support the President's initiatives and hope for a swift resolution to the Crimean "contradictions." According to their statements, the peninsula is a promising and fundamentally new market with excellent development opportunities for the future.
Currently, the only provider of business aviation services in Crimea remains the company "Crimea Flight Service," which handles flight organization, charter services, and business airline operations. Furthermore, it is the general agent for PJSC "Simferopol International Airport," providing services to hotel complexes, logistics companies, fuel suppliers, and other service organizations.
