The Bombardier Global 6000 and Bombardier Global 7500 are two of the largest and most modern business jets produced by Bombardier.

Given that these two aircraft are so similar, it can be challenging to identify the differences between them.

Therefore, let’s compare them side by side and see which private jet is better.

 

Performance

First, let’s take a look at the performance of each aircraft.

The Bombardier Global 6000 is equipped with two Rolls-Royce BR710-A2-20 engines. Each engine is capable of producing up to 14,750 pounds of thrust. As a result, the total thrust output of the Global 6000 is 29,500 pounds.

On the other hand, the Bombardier Global 7500 is powered by two General Electric Passport engines. Each engine can generate up to 16,500 pounds of thrust. Thus, the total thrust output of the Global 7500 is 33,000 pounds.

As a result, the maximum cruise speed of the Global 7500 is slightly higher at 516 knots compared to the maximum cruise speed of the Global 6000 at 513 knots.

However, it is likely that this difference in cruise speed will go unnoticed in the real world. Over a distance of 1,000 nautical miles, the Global 7500 will arrive approximately 40 seconds earlier than the Global 6000.

Interestingly, the Global 7500 is also slightly more fuel-efficient than the Global 6000 during flight. On average, the Global 7500 burns only 460 gallons per hour (GPH) of fuel.

 

In comparison, the Bombardier Global 6000 burns about 470 gallons per hour (GPH).

 

 

Range

When it comes to the range of these aircraft, the clue lies in the name. While the numbers are not always accurate, they are close enough to give you an idea of their maximum range.

For example, the Global 6000 can fly up to 6,000 nautical miles (6,905 miles / 11,112 km) without refueling.

In comparison, the Global 7500 can fly up to 7,700 nautical miles (8,861 miles / 14,260 km) without refueling.

It's important to note that the Bombardier Global 7500 holds the record among production business jets for the longest range. Of course, this record will soon be surpassed when the new Gulfstream G800 enters production with a claimed maximum range of 8,000 nautical miles.

Certainly, as with the range values claimed by manufacturers, these numbers are somewhat optimistic. Depending on weather conditions, cruise speed, weight, and many other factors, the actual figures will be lower than those stated above.

 

However, theoretically, the values should remain somewhat proportional. Thus, under equal conditions with equal weights, the Global 7500 will always be able to fly farther than the Global 6000.

 

Ground Characteristics

Ground characteristics are a crucial factor to consider when selecting a private jet for your next flight. 

 

It’s essential to ensure that the runway at your chosen airport can accommodate the aircraft.

Naturally, many factors will influence the minimum takeoff distance of the aircraft. For instance, weight, takeoff speed, and available thrust.

When it comes to achieving a short takeoff distance, the best combination is low weight and high thrust.

Therefore, somewhat surprisingly, the Bombardier Global 7500 has a shorter minimum takeoff distance than the Global 6000.

The minimum takeoff distance for each aircraft is 5,800 feet compared to 6,476 feet, respectively.

However, the order changes when it comes to minimum landing distance.

The Global 6000 has a minimum landing distance of 2,236 feet. Whereas the minimum landing distance for the Global 7500 is 2,520 feet.

 

Of course, the minimum takeoff distance plays a crucial role here.

 

Interior Dimensions

When looking at the interior dimensions of the Global 6000 and Global 7500, the key difference is the length of the cabin. Essentially, the Global 6000 is a longer version of the Global 7500.

After all, they are built on the same platform.

The cabin length of the Global 6000 is 13.18 meters. In comparison, the Global 7500 has a length of 16.59 meters.

The longer cabin provides more living space, a more spacious environment, and more room for each passenger.

Next, let’s look at the interior width. The width of the Global 6000 cabin is 2.41 meters. In comparison, the width of the Global 7500 cabin is 2.44 meters.

The slight difference in cabin width allows for slightly wider seating, increased space, and a little more room in the aisle.

Interior

The advantage of the Global 7500 is that it is newer and also the flagship aircraft of Bombardier.

Deliveries of the Global 6000 began in 2012, while deliveries of the Global 7500 started in 2018.

A crucial factor to consider when evaluating the comfort of a private jet cabin is the maximum "cabin altitude." The lower the cabin pressure altitude, the more comfortable the cabin, as it reduces the effects of jet lag. This is important to keep in mind with these long-range jets.

Given that these aircraft belong to the same family, it's not surprising that both have the same maximum cabin altitude of 5,680 feet.

 

Although this is not the best rating on the market, it is a respectable figure.

This low altitude (lower than that of a commercial airliner) means you will feel more relaxed during the flight and arrive at your destination with less jet lag.

In comparison, the Global 7500 is much more expensive, with an estimated hourly charter cost of $15,900.

And finally, how much does it cost to purchase each aircraft?

The Bombardier Global 6000 has a new list price of $62 million. In comparison, the Bombardier Global 7500 has a new list price of $73 million.

However, the purchase price of these aircraft becomes really interesting when looking at their used value.

According to Aircraft Bluebook, a two-year-old Global 6000 will cost you $39 million. Thus, we can see that the Global 6000  retains 63% of its value over the same period.

In comparison, a two-year-old Global 7500 is valued at $68 million. Thus,   the Global 7500  retains 93% of its value over the same period.

 

Therefore, the Global 7500 represents a much better value when purchasing a new aircraft.

So, which aircraft is better?

The Global 7500, of course, is not surprising, as both aircraft are produced by Bombardier and built on the same platform. However, the Global 7500 is Bombardier's latest flagship aircraft.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that it has all the bells and whistles.

Of course, if you are choosing between these two aircraft, it ultimately comes down to which one can accomplish the task at hand. Given that these aircraft are very similar, if the Global 6000 can fulfill a specific mission, it will have far greater value.
