An-74 cargo plane is a Soviet transport plane.

It was intended for the transportation of goods, equipment and people on short and medium-haul airlines in any climatic conditions from -60 ° C to +45 ° C and at any latitude, including in the North Pole and in the highlands. It can be operated on equipped and non-equipped air routes at any time of the year or day from concrete, pebble, ice and snow airfields, on domestic and international lines. The An-74 aircraft can carry cargo up to 7.5 tons, including up to 10 passengers (up to 52, depending on the version), at an altitude of up to 10 100 meters with a cruising speed of 550-700 km / h.

The aircraft is equipped with an onboard loading device and a winch. On lines with a constant cargo flow the aircraft can be equipped with roller tables for loading and mooring pallets and containers. Transportation of goods is possible in containers LD-3, LD-6 or packed on pallets 2L3P and LD-3 pallet. The An-74TK-100 and An-74TK-200 airplanes are equipped with D-36 series ZA bypass turbojet engines, which ensure a constant take-off thrust value up to an outside air temperature of + 33 ° C.

The presence of an auxiliary power unit, on-board means of loading and unloading cargo, landing gear with low-pressure pneumatics ensure the autonomous operation of the aircraft both on artificial-surface runways and on unpaved airfields. The high position of the engines excludes the ingress of foreign objects into the air intakes during takeoff and landing further during operation on pebble airfields.

Another modification of the An-74 is the newly developed An-74TK-300, the main difference of which from the existing models is the transfer of engines under the wing to the pylons.
