Blue Skies Flying Services is located in the northern suburbs of Chicago at 3CK, Lake in the Hills Airport. Blue Skies opened its doors in 1993 and has grown with the McHenry county community over the last 24+ years. Blue Skies has gained recognition as one of the finest aviation educational training facilities in the country and was voted #1 Flight School in the Midwest in 2017 and 2018 by the AOPA. Blue Skies has one of the largest retail pilot shops in the Great Lakes area, and the Testing Center provides CATS FAA testing as well as numerous other computer-based employment tests.
Blue Skies is a full-service flight school and pilot shop that offers flight instruction, aircraft rental, and aircraft maintenance. The Pilot Shop carries a variety of pilot and student aviation supplies. We have an inventory of books, training materials, NOS charts, and gifts. We also carry headsets, flight bags and other accessories.
Our professional staff includes highly qualified flight instructors. We are committed to helping you reach your personal aviation goals, whether you want to fly for pleasure, or enter the aviation field and prepare for a successful career.
Flight training programs available include the Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating (IFR), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and (CFII). Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks are also available. Aircraft rentals are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Blue Skies also has an AATD flight simulator, with log able time towards most ratings and IPC’s.
The owner of Blue Skies Flying Services is actively involved in the day-to-day operations and is an A&P and IA. He oversees all the school fleet maintenance, as well as the needs of our aircraft maintenance customers.
